Please, watch the video first.
This is your 5th lesson. You have been doing very well, let's continue this way.

Summary
In this TED talk, we follow the story of Ashley Stahl who shares her 3 key steps to help us connect to our life's purpose, discover our ideal career path, and make what she likes to call a "You Turn" the decision to get out of fear and tap into what we actually want out of life. She starts with a very powerful story from her own life that inspired her to make a change and then she gives advice on how to change
ours.
Ashley Stahl shared her 3 key steps, what are yours?Think about them, it is a great exercise for you.
Now, time for useful phrases.
Menage to do something - means that someone succeeded in doing something, even though it was difficult. ( I managed to pass the exams, even though it was a hard period for me.)
Give the power away - whenever something brings you down or forces you to lose your cool. ( If you allow someone else to cause you to get so angry you say or do things you later regret, you give away your power. )
Buy into something - to start to do something that a lot of other people are doing, or to believe something that a lot of other people believe. ( You could say that you are not buying into someone's words.)
Make sense - to have a clear meaning : to be easy to understand. (Feelings sometimes don't make sense, or something that happens makes perfect sense. )
Wash over - (of a feeling) affect (someone) suddenly. (a deep feeling of sadness can wash over someone.)
Get by - manage with difficulty to live or accomplish something. (You will usually hear people say they get by in life)
Meet our needs - to do something that someone wants, needs, or expects you to do or be as good as they need, expect etc ( For example, you sometimes don't meet the needs of an employer so they can't give you a job.)
Lock eyes with someone - used to say that someone is looking at someone or something and not looking at anything else. You can lock eyes with someone on the street or in the bus.
Break down and sob - To cry after losing control of one's emotions, especially after trying not to or after an intense buildup. (after losing someone or something we usually break down and cry)
Life throws curveballs - is when life surprise someone with something that is difficult or unpleasant to deal with
Fast track to something - is the quickest route to achieving. It can be a fast track to nowhere. That's a very common phrase used in English.
Make a commitment - dedicating yourself to something, like a person or a cause.
You can make a commitment to learn English.
How to remember these?
1. Write for yourself a list of must do's and use these words. For example:
We all try to meet the needs of our parents.
We sometimes give the power away to other people and so they can control us.

2. What do you think about starting to write your own diary in English?
Try it. It can be really helpful.
Grammar
This lesson`s grammar is - Reported speech and Passive Voice.
You already know Passive Voice, so let's learn Reported speech.
Reported speech (She said "They told him to...") Indirect speech is a means of expressing the content of statements and questions, without quoting them explicitly as is done in direct speech.
For example, He said "I'm coming" is direct speech, whereas He said he was coming is indirect speech.
Do you remember the other lesson rules? We have learned:
Passive Voice
Conditionals
Pronouns.

You know so much already.
The last but never least:
Quotes
See things as they are, not worse than they are and not better than they are.
Pain is often a trampoline that will launch us into our next stage of life if we are
willing to let it.

Well done
Can you believe you have finished 5 lessons? You managed to learn so many new
rules and new things. Don`t forget practicing. You can only learn a new language
if you constantly use it.
P.S. We thought it would be easier so here are all your tests for this lesson. Enjoy
